Girls Road Trip to Ocklebo, Sweden

We acquired two new Workaways at Ljusnefors Camping.  Marta Mattiazzo is from a town near Venice, Italy and Liva Poriete is from Latvia.  They both speak excellent English.  They also have both learned Swedish and are hoping to learn to speak it.  Marta came on Tuesday last week and Liva came on Thursday.

Marion had a friend from Lucerne, Switzerland come to visit for a few days. Her name is Karin Erli and she was a lot of fun!

We had a cookout for Karin's last night, Marta's first night and for the kids.  We built a fire and I made hamburgers and afterwards we had S'mores.  The kids had never had them and loved them.  I could not find any graham crackers, so I bought some plain cookies, biscuits or digestives, to use as graham crackers. After the cookout, Marion, Karin and I got in the hot tub while Marta looked on.

I love this grill on a chain that you can lower or raise as necessary

We got a thumbs up from Enno!

Liva from Latvia

Karin left on Wednesday and Liva came on Thursday.  On Friday, we took a Girl's Road Trip!  We wanted to go to Soderhamn to get an adapter for Marta's computer and cell phone charger, so we asked Martin to recommend a place to eat.  He recommended a place called Ockelbo.  Ockelbo is a locality and the seat of Ockelbo Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with a population of 2,724.  There are 150 ancient monuments, including several Stone Age Settlements.  The majority are grave mounds from the late Iron Age.  Ockelbo is primarily known for its basketball team, the annual summer and winter market, and the rose gardens in Wij Trädgårdar.  Wij Trädgårdar is where we went to eat.  It was a lovely setting with a wonderful buffet.

Love the fireplace

On our way, we passed a beautiful island in the middle of a lake with house on it.  We were on the E4 so we couldn't stop for a picture, but I found one on Wikipedia!  Norrbrännigen, Sweden.

Also, we passed a little town called Högbacka.  I think this is Swedish for Razorback!!
