My first project was to makeover the guest bedroom because I was imminently going to have a guest. I had also made the decision to convert the closet into my office or my cloffice per my daughter, Lauren.
I found some really cute sheets at Steinmart and decided to used them as my color theme.
Here are the sheets:
I used the greens in the fabric to choose a paint color for the room and for the closet. The closet color I chose was Valspar Homestead Resort Spa Green.
Before After
My son-in-law, Marcelo, installed an additional shelf in the closet. I used a
1" x 8' x 12" board for the desk top with 1" moulding on the front and painted it with a coral that matched the fabric. I bought two filing cabinets at Goodwill and covered them with an extra sheet using Mod Podge. This is the first time using Mod Podge and it went quite well!
Next, I painted the room using a complementary color to the Homestead Resort Spa Green, namely Hubbell House Tamarisk. It is subtlely a little darker than the closet/office color.
Here are the after pictures of the room.
I found an IKEA day bed with a trundle that works perfect for a guest room. I found some adorable Jane Austen prints for over the bed. Lauren also gave me the bamboo end tables and the cute fish pillow!
Just another angle of the completed
room. I found the hanging lamp from a thrift store in Delmar, Delaware.
I think it turned out just the way I pictured it! I will tackle the guest bathroom after a little while. I'm going to use basically the same colors, the wall color will be Grassy Field.......
I am going to attack the kitchen/breakfast room as soon as possible!
